MSI China announced an unprecedented expansion of warranty obligations, offering complete coverage of all computer components when 80+ Gold and higher power supplies fail, with compensation up to 100% of replacement costs.

MSI China has announced a radical expansion of its warranty services, offering unprecedented complete coverage of all personal computer components connected to high-quality MSI power supplies. The new policy applies to PSUs with 80+ Gold, Platinum, and Titanium certifications in mainland China.

Extended Warranty Terms

According to MSI's official post on the Bilibili platform, the company commits to "perfect after-sales support" in the Chinese market. If a malfunctioning MSI power supply causes damage to other components in a client's PC, the company will provide complete independent inspection and damage compensation.

The compensation procedure includes providing all purchase documents for damaged components and conclusions from an independent expert commission. After confirming the causal relationship, MSI offers appropriate compensation to customers.

Compensation System

The damage reimbursement mechanism operates on the following principle: if the damaged component is a commercially available MSI product, an equivalent replacement is offered. For third-party components, MSI selects a suitable alternative product from its own lineup.

In cases where the damaged component is no longer manufactured, MSI offers monetary compensation, the amount of which depends on the remaining warranty period of the power supply:

  • First year: 100% compensation for unavailable parts cost
  • Second and third years: 90% compensation
  • Until warranty expiration: 75% compensation

Initiative Significance

Considering that MSI 80+ Gold and higher power supplies often come with 10-year warranties – one of the longest warranty periods in the PSU industry – this extension of coverage to remaining computer components demonstrates exceptional company confidence in its product quality.

Such comprehensive warranty programs are extremely rare among power supply manufacturers, making MSI's initiative truly revolutionary in the industry.

Relevance in Contemporary Challenges Context

This initiative is particularly relevant against the backdrop of increasing electrical failures in modern PCs, often related to extreme power consumption and design features of the latest RTX 50 series graphics card power connectors.

It remains unknown whether a similar warranty program will extend to the American market or other global regions outside China.
