The profession of emergency services dispatchers in the United States faces a serious problem with staff instability. More than 25% of employees quit without working even a year, making this industry one of the leaders in staff turnover among all professions.

Innovative Solution from Aurelian

Seattle-based startup Aurelian, a graduate of the Y Combinator accelerator program, has offered a revolutionary solution to this problem. The company has developed an AI-powered voice assistant that significantly reduces the workload on 911 service operators.

How the AI Dispatcher Works

The artificial intelligence system "picks up the phone" instantly when a call comes in. The neural network analyzes the nature of the appeal and decides on further action:

  • Emergency calls are immediately redirected to a human dispatcher
  • Less urgent situations are processed automatically
  • The system collects all necessary information and creates reports

Non-emergency situations include noise complaints, parking violations, reports of stolen wallets, and similar incidents that do not require immediate intervention.

Impressive Results

According to the developers, AI successfully processes 74% of non-emergency calls without the involvement of human dispatchers. This saves operators more than three hours of working time per day, allowing them to focus on truly critical situations.

"911 operators are trained to respond to emergencies, not parking complaints. AI reduces burnout and helps dispatchers focus on the most critical situations," emphasizes Aurelian co-founder Max Keenan.

Current Implementation

AI dispatchers are already successfully operating in emergency services call centers in Washington, Tennessee, and Michigan. It's important to note that there is no talk of completely replacing human operators – the system is designed to complement their work and increase service efficiency.
