Mozilla has released Firefox 139.0.1 update to eliminate graphics artifacts on computers with Nvidia graphics cards in multi-monitor configurations with different refresh rates.

On May 30, 2025, Mozilla released a corrective update Firefox 139.0.1, aimed at eliminating serious graphics issues that occurred for users with Nvidia graphics cards in multi-monitor systems with different screen refresh rates.
The Nature of the Problem
After the release of the stable version Firefox 139.0 on May 26, users began massively reporting the appearance of graphics anomalies and image artifacts. The problem manifested as distortions within the browser window on one monitor with flickering image fragments from another monitor when hovering the cursor over graphic elements.
Artifacts became particularly noticeable when playing 60 FPS video content on the second monitor while interacting with the main display running at high refresh rates (such as 144 Hz).
Technical Cause
Analysis showed that the problem arose due to changes in DirectComposition processing. Mozilla removed a blocking mechanism that previously prevented the use of this technology in certain Nvidia graphics card configurations, especially in multi-monitor systems with different refresh rates.
Who Was Affected
The bug affected exclusively users with Nvidia graphics cards in multi-monitor configurations. Owners of Intel or AMD graphics cards, as well as single-monitor users, did not experience similar problems.
Temporary Solution
Before the release of the official fix, users could solve the problem by disabling the gfx.webrender.dcomp-video-hw-overlay-win
flag in browser settings.
The Firefox 139.0.1 update is available for download through the browser's automatic update system or from the official Mozilla website.
