CLEAResult has announced the implementation of the new highest energy efficiency standard 80 Plus Ruby, designed for data center power supplies with efficiency rates exceeding 96%.

CLEAResult, the organization responsible for certifying energy-efficient equipment, has announced the launch of a fundamentally new 80 Plus Ruby standard. This standard establishes the highest requirements for energy efficiency of power supplies intended for industrial use in data centers.
Evolution of 80 Plus Standards
The 80 Plus certification system has existed for many years and includes several efficiency grades: basic level, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium. Each of these standards requires a minimum energy efficiency of 80% at various load levels, as well as a power factor of at least 0.9 at maximum load.
Revolutionary Ruby Requirements
The new 80 Plus Ruby standard sets an unprecedentedly high efficiency bar - at least 90% for the entire power supply system. When operating with 230/277/480 V voltage and 50% load, power supplies must demonstrate 96.5% efficiency, which significantly exceeds the requirements of previous standards.
First Certified Solutions
The pioneer in Ruby certification was Taiwanese corporation Delta Electronics, which presented innovative 5500W power supplies as early as the beginning of 2025. According to the manufacturer's claims, these devices achieve 97.5% efficiency, making them among the most efficient solutions in the industrial equipment market.
The implementation of the Ruby standard marks a new era in the development of energy-efficient technologies for data centers, where every percentage point of energy savings can lead to significant reduction in operational costs.
