Apple is preparing for a comprehensive design overhaul of all its operating systems. The new design language codenamed Solarium will affect iOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS, visionOS, and macOS, bringing uniformity and modern visual solutions across the ecosystem.

Technology giant Apple is planning radical changes to the visual design of its operating systems. According to latest reports, the new design language Solarium will be implemented not only in mobile platforms iOS 19 and iPadOS 19, but will encompass all of the company's ecosystem products.
Global Design Changes
Authoritative Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman confirmed Apple's plans to unify interfaces across all operating systems. As part of the update, users will see significant changes in watchOS for smart watches, tvOS for Apple TV devices, and visionOS for the Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The desktop system macOS 16 will also be included in the redesign.
Key Features of Solarium
The new design concept envisions active use of translucent and glass-like interface elements. Users can expect redesigned app hierarchies, updated icons, and a more consistent visual style across different Apple platforms.
Hints at upcoming changes can already be seen in the design of the upcoming WWDC conference scheduled for June 9th. The glass 3D arch in the event's illustration symbolizes the new design direction Apple intends to present.
Long-Awaited Updates
Particularly significant will be changes to the tvOS platform, which has remained virtually unchanged since its launch in 2015. Unlike watchOS, which regularly receives interface updates, Apple's television platform will finally get a modern appearance.
It's expected that visual inspiration for all platforms will be drawn from visionOS design - Apple's most modern operating system for mixed reality devices. This will be Apple's biggest design update since the revolutionary changes in iOS 7.
The official presentation of new operating system versions will take place at the WWDC 2025 conference, which opens in early June.
