Sony LinkBuds S are compact wireless earbuds with active noise cancellation (ANC). Discover their design, sound quality, and functionality for daily use.
Sony LinkBuds S (WF-LS900N) are among Sony’s smallest and lightest noise-canceling earbuds, 40% more compact than the flagship WF-1000XM4. Weighing just 4.8 g each, they offer comfort for extended wear, making them ideal for daily use, including workouts and commutes. The earbuds feature 5 mm drivers that deliver balanced sound with an emphasis on low frequencies and clear vocals, though the treble can feel slightly muted. Active noise cancellation (ANC) effectively blocks low-frequency noises like traffic rumble but struggles with higher frequencies such as voices. The transparency mode (Ambient Sound) lets you hear your surroundings, though it sounds less natural than the open-design original LinkBuds. The earbuds support SBC, AAC, and LDAC codecs for high-quality audio over Bluetooth 5.2, along with multipoint connection. The Sony Headphones Connect app provides EQ settings, ANC control, and features like Speak-to-Chat and Spotify Tap. Battery life is 6 hours with ANC enabled, and up to 20 hours with the case. A quick 5-minute charge gives 1 hour of playback. With an IPX4 rating, they’re resistant to sweat and splashes. However, the microphone for calls is underwhelming, as the voice can sound thin and distorted in noisy environments. Full specifications are available on the official Sony website.
