Google has introduced a significant update for its Pixel smartphones that will fundamentally change the way users share audio content. Now Pixel 8 and newer models can stream sound simultaneously to multiple pairs of headphones thanks to enhanced Bluetooth LE Audio support and innovative Auracast technology.

Revolution in Shared Listening

The new feature allows users to create private audio broadcasts that can be shared with friends and family through multiple headphones simultaneously. Connection is made as simple as possible — through a QR code or special quick connection function.

To use the new capability, headphones with LE Audio technology support are required. This opens wide prospects for shared movie watching, music listening, or participating in video conferences without the need for external speakers.

Auracast Technology: Not Just Google

It's important to note that Google is not a pioneer in implementing LE Audio Auracast. This technology is already successfully working on devices from other manufacturers:

Samsung: Galaxy S23, S24, S25 and foldable models Galaxy Z Fold5, Fold6, Fold7 already support this feature.

Xiaomi: A wide range of devices includes 14T, 14T Pro, models 14 and 15 series, including Ultra versions, as well as MIX Flip.

POCO: The brand is represented by models X6 Pro, F6 Pro, F7 Pro and F7 Ultra with technology support.

Expanding the Accessories Ecosystem

Simultaneously with Auracast implementation, Google announced the expansion of Android support for Sony headphones. The list of compatible devices includes popular models:

  • LinkBuds S — compact headphones for an active lifestyle
  • WF-1000XM5 — flagship TWS headphones with active noise cancellation
  • InZone Buds — gaming headphones
  • LinkBuds Open and LinkBuds Fit — specialized models
  • WH-1000XM6 — premium over-ear headphones
  • InZone H9 II — next-generation gaming headset

Pixel Buds Pro 2 Updates

Parallel to Auracast implementation, Google improved the functionality of its own Pixel Buds Pro 2 headphones. The key innovation was Adaptive Audio technology, which provides intelligent active noise cancellation.

The feature of the new system is that it doesn't block external sounds completely, but adaptively adjusts the noise cancellation level depending on the surrounding environment. This allows users to stay aware of what's happening around them while maintaining listening quality.

Additionally, the headphones received a hearing protection function that automatically activates when detecting too loud or sharp sounds in the user's environment. This option helps prevent potential hearing damage from unexpected acoustic impacts.

Pixel 10 Technical Issues

Despite positive news about audio function improvements, users of the newest Pixel 10 model have encountered technical difficulties. Cases of display malfunctions have been recorded, where the screen begins displaying chaotic noise from colored pixels.

According to preliminary data, the problem may be software-related, which gives hope for a solution through firmware updates. The absence of hardware defects simplifies the troubleshooting process.
