The technology world is taking another significant step toward complete wire elimination. Popular YouTube channel DIY Perks creator Matthew Perks has joined forces with startup Etherdyne Technologies to create a revolutionary wireless power system integrated into a 1.2×0.6 meter computer desk.

How Wire-Free Power Zone Technology Works

The system operates on principles similar to smartphone wireless chargers but with substantial improvements. While conventional wireless chargers generate alternating electromagnetic fields at 110-205 kHz frequencies with up to 15W power at short distances, Etherdyne\'s solution uses a 6.78 MHz transmission frequency.

This enables the system to transmit up to 100W of power at distances up to one meter. A flexible wire loop integrated into the desk creates a wireless power zone where various devices can operate without needing to connect to the electrical grid.

Capability Demonstration

In his demonstration, Matthew Perks showcased an entire ecosystem of wireless devices:

  • Wireless mouse — battery replaced with a wireless power receiving loop
  • Wireless keyboard — powered directly from the desk
  • Stereo speakers — created from 3D-printed and spare parts
  • Heated mug — operates without plugging into an outlet
  • Wireless microphone — receives power through the air
  • 24-inch monitor — modified with a special base containing two 7-watt power circuits

Particularly impressive was the integration of a Framework laptop directly into the desk using a wireless HDMI receiver for monitor connection.

Kit Contents and Capabilities

The Wire-Free Power Zone kit includes 16 receivers of various sizes and configurations, allowing system adaptation for different device types and user needs.

Commercial Availability and Safety

Currently, Wire-Free Power Zone technology is not available for mass commercial use, but an evaluation kit can be ordered from the Etherdyne Technologies website.

Regarding safety, the company claims their product has already received FCC and CE certification, demonstrating compliance with international radiofrequency radiation safety standards.

The Future of Wireless Technologies

This development represents a significant step forward in wireless technology and could fundamentally change our perception of future workspaces. The ability to completely eliminate power cables opens new horizons for interior design and workspace organization.
