GIMP is a powerful and free image editor that allows you to perform various tasks, including cutting out circular images. In this article, we will explain in detail how to do this.
Step 1: Open the image in GIMP
Launch GIMP and open the image from which you want to cut a circle via the File -> Open menu.
Step 2: Select the «Elliptical Select» tool
On the left-hand toolbar, select the «Elliptical Select» tool (the icon with a circle). If you don't see it, right-click on another selection tool and select it from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Create a circular selection
Click and drag the mouse on the image while holding down the Shift key to create a perfect circle. Position the selection around the desired area.
Step 4: Delete the unwanted area
Make sure the correct layer is selected and press the Delete key on the keyboard. The area outside the circle will become transparent.
Step 5: Export the image
Go to the File -> Export As menu and choose a format, such as PNG to preserve transparency.
Now you have a circular image!
